Those Who Wait

Not much has happened in the last couple of days. First off, we met for another awesome prayer session/bible study with Methuselah on Sunday. Then, on Tuesday, all of us except for our sick translator, Allen, met with Romi, one of the local school teachers who teaches English, and helped her with her classes. We first met her as she was teaching two 6th grade classes and helped explain the use of plurals and various other vocabulary such as the seasons and weather words. Then followed her to another school and helped out with a second grade class, expaling colors, shapes, and various things such as windows, doors, walls, etc. In all three classes, we were asked to end off with a song. We obliged the request by singing our unofficial themesong, "Sing to the King." The kids loved it, and got to experience praise in another language, whether they realized it or not.

Other than that, we've been kind of hanging out in internet cafes and resting as plans have been either canceled or forgotten. However, I don't look at these closed doors as bad omens or even as time wasted, but rather as waiting for God's timing. One instance of a forgotten/cancelled/plan gone awry turning into a positive twist was when a failed bible study ended in us meeting a Peruvian Geologist who spoke a good bit of English. Also, for me at least, a decent amount of the downtime has been spent in reading, prayer, and even some meditation. It has tremendously helped to take my mind off of simply being in a new city and helped me focus on sincerely wanting and craving to do the work of God. Which, as we read in John, is to "Believe in the one whom He sent."
Through all of this as well as some reading about the early church, I've found that God requires a period of waiting that builds in us patience and also transforms our hearts to want what is in His will for us. After all, I have no clue what God is doing or what He wants done here, except for that His name and His promise might be presented to these people. In the meantime, we wait for the opened door and also for our "Wings like Eagles." We appreciate your prayers and your thoughts as we await the wonders God has prepared for Coracora, and also for us.
